What is “cold pressed, extra virgin” extraction?

By Dustin Moore August 10, 2017

Pure Alaska Omega salmon oil is extracted from fresh salmon swimming freely in the pristine waters of Alaska. The salmon is handled and processed using our proprietary “cold pressed, extra virgin” extraction process.

Just as extra virgin olive oil comes from the first pressing of olives, Pure Alaska Omega Salmon Oil comes from the first “press” of the fish. The fish is “cold-pressed” using minimal heat and mechanical force to extract the salmon oil. By avoiding harsh chemicals, solvents, and extreme temperatures, our “cold pressed” gentle extraction method shields the oil to maintain the natural balance of nutrients (all omega fatty acids 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, & 11 in their naturally formed triglyceride state) and companion compounds (vitamins A, D, E, and the antioxidant Astaxanthin) found in fresh salmon. The end “extra virgin” salmon oil is then encapsulated into a softgel to maintain the freshness.
